An embroidered patch badge featuring the coat of arms of Whitby.
The Coat of Arms of Whitby were officially granted on 3 July 1935. The coat of arms features three coiled snakes (previously depicted as ammonites). Legend has it that Hilda, the abbess of Whitby Abbey, rounded up snakes around the abbey. She threw them off the cliff, where they lost their heads and turned to stone. Ammonites are actually 190-million-year-old fossils found in the area.
This patch badge is sew-on, washable, shrinkproof and are over-locked to avoid fraying.
